A-Z challenge.

Hi everyone,

For the month of April I will be participating in the A- Z blogging challenge 2016.

I have decided to go with a theme during this challenge, which means that for the month of April all my posts will revolve around that theme. This includes my writing prompts and haiku challenges as well.

My theme: Adjectives that describe home (referring to both a building and my birth country).

I will also ensure that my posts stay within a hundred and fifty words (+/- 25 words).

So no long posts in the month of April.

The challenge doesn’t include Sundays, which means I will not be posting anything on Sundays (hopefully).

I hope you enjoy it and I hope to have fun.

3 Days, 3 Quotes – Day 2

Quote 1This week has been a little unsettled for me, it seems like everything just wants to go pear-shaped but something positive seems to pull it back in the nick of time. Thus, it’s no surprise that the above quote comes to mind.

Much like the statue below, we can be beautiful on the outside but not enjoy the beauty of the world around us when we fail to apply the above quote to our daily life.

Our hearts get stone cold from banging our heads against the things we can’t change.

Our sight gets blinded by the frustration of failing to change the impossible; hence building fear in us of a new challenge.

Our feet get stuck in place again by fear and a disillusioned mind.

We end up as self made statues without a story as statues with a story are made by others to immortalize a lesson.

Family ties.

“Charlie what’s going to  happen to us?” I asked sitting on the steps of the gazebo.

“I am not sure Henry, but am sure we will be fine, nothing has changed,” replied Charlie

“How can you say that, didn’t you hear anything they said?” I asked almost screaming at Charlie. I really wanted him to be right, but somehow I knew Charlie won’t be able to fix this problem, our family was officially no longer a unit.

“They are so selfish and shouldn’t  have been parents ever,” I continued

“Don’t say that Henry, look, as long as we stay together and  take care of each other  like we have always done in the past we’ll be OK,” replied Charlie drawing Henry in for a hug.

Charlie was actually more angry and confused than I was, he had caught mum and her boss in bed just three days ago whilst dad was at work. He kept it a secret from dad and me, for a twelve-year old he was turning into a super big brother.

In response to the writing challenge flash fiction for aspiring writers hosted by Priceless Joy. The photograph is provided and we are asked to write a story inspired by it within 100 – 150 words(+/- 25 words). Thanks Joy for hosting and  thank you Dawn M. Miller for the photograph. And thank you for stopping by.

The questions from Millie and my answers:

1.What are the main types of posts you write and what type of blogs do you enjoy reading yourself?

I write mostly short stories then a couple of informative and reflective posts. I enjoy reading blogs that feature articles similar to what I write.

Well with a little one running around, I write when she humbly grants me permission. I would love to post something very reflective each week.

3. Have you a particular genre you like to read or watch on TV/movies, and are there any genres that you would avoid at all costs?

I like thrillers either as novels or movies. I love love animations as well. Genres I would avoid hmmm……

4. What would be your ideal holiday destination? (e.g. are you a sunshine-and-beach kind of person or a sightseer, a sports-driven holiday-seeker, or what?)

Sunshine and even more sunshine.

5. What is your biggest goal in life at the moment?

To be the most balanced mom, wife and individual I can be.

Any music that promotes my personal values is fine with me. Nope.

7. Do you have a favourite musical instrument and do you play anything yourself?

The guitar but unfortunately I don’t play anything. Wait! does the tambourine count?

8. To what extent are you influenced by fashion in your choice of clothes?

Not to a large extent, I wear what fits me and my mood at the time.

9. Describe your ideal meal/venue for a meal on a special occasion or night out.

To be honest it’s really the people involved that makes the occasion special for me and the fact that there is something to celebrate.

10. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you ‘grew up’?

A pharmacist.

11. Now the biggie: What do you think of ‘Game of Thrones’ (book or TV series)? This seems to be a popular discussion point at the moment!

Honestly other than the name I have no clue what it is.
