A diamond in the rough, that’s every scouts dream, to discover that elusive talent hidden in obscurity.
The darker and haggard the rough, the greater the uproar of discovery.
The rough in the diamond, that’s every managers’ nightmare, to gloss over the cracks and aggrandize the talent.
The wider and deeper the crack, the greater the need to bury its existence in obscurity.
Billy-Joe: died 11:45 PM, August 14, 1980.
A diamond in the rough, who wouldn’t let the rough go.

Alas… we need more scouts and less managers it seems. The word is harsh for unbending wills.

Dear Chioma,
Puts me in mind of Elvis who passed away on this date in 1977. Not in obscurity but certainly manipulated by his manager. Nicely done.

A great story, very profound. Would the diamond shine as bright without the rough I wonder? I wonder who Billy Joe is.

I don’t know who he is too.
Hehehehe!
Thank you.

Nice, the difference between the scout’s view of finding the talent and the manager’s view of marketing it.

I like the symmetry of this. Beautifully structured. And the ending is tragic.
