“Come in come in, Flashy smiles is always happy to share and capture your memorable moments.”
His voice reminded me of Jafar, calm and cajoling disguising the venomous web laced within. It didn’t help that the door looked like the top half of an hourglass, was it a premonition of the photographers second nature?
I wasn’t really scared I had grandma with me she was sharper than any wicked magician and she knows all the good genies. I know because when she reads me the stories, we always beat the bad guys.
We wore matching outfits: yellow poker dot tops and a pair of jeans, we got them from the charity shop on ninth street. Grandma said it was a bargain and the best choice for this year’s family photo.
When the photos were delivered grandma wasn’t there, her spot was eerily vacant. Waking up in cold sweat, my mind confused by the dream.
Mum said grandma passed-on that morning, she wasn’t in the family photos that Christmas.

Oh boy…. Now that is indeed creepy. What could be the explanation?! 😟😮

I loved this, I’m gradually (and surprisingly) acquiring a taste for creepy and horrifying stories.
However I didn’t find it scary or anything, it’s more of a love story to me. The love of a grandmother for her grandchild that transcended even death.

Eerie, but also very sweet, the way the narrator remembers the grandmother. Even when she wasn’t really there, it seems!

Wow, that was pretty creepy but creepy wonderful! Her grandmother was with her on her appointment with the photographer even though she had died that morning. I love it! Great story!

A story that gives us something to ponder about. It’s rather eerie that Grandma disappeared from the photograph. A lovely description of Grandma, and the love the girl/you had for her, and an intriguing description of the Photo Centre and its despicable owner.

Thanks, Chioma. I’ve been doing a few posts over the last couple of weeks. I popped back to do one or two after we’d been away, and somehow seemed to stay. I’ve only done the one flash fiction, though, so we haven’t crossed until now. I must get back to my writing in a day or two, though.
I really enjoyed reading your story. 🙂
