Chosen guardians

“No daffodils today, Mrs Nelson?”

“You don’t give up, do you?” chuckling she logged her purchase slowly to the door.

“Maybe next week?” he loved making her smile, loyal customers like rare gems were scarce.

Walking towards the last customer “Need any help?”

“Oh no, sorry …”

“Don’t apologise” he grinned taking her in.

Smiling “Your daffodils are lovely, very refreshing.”

“Thank you” she was perfect.

“I’m here to pick-up Mr Wilburs order.”

“Sure, just fill out these forms.”

Minutes later she left the florist, her address carefully saved under ‘guardians of the daffodils’.

  1. I like the mystery here – he is clearly taking rather too much interest and upon reading the comments, I find myself glad Mrs Nelson is resisting. I must admit to being a bit confused by the story itself. It wasn’t totally clear to me who was who on first read. Will there be further installments to clear up some of the mystery, or are yo going to leave us guessing?

  2. I think that perhaps describing his favorites as loyal customers confuses the reader about his intentions, if his intentions are ominous, as you say. Otherwise I just think he is a very good neighborhood businessman. But then perhaps he has fooled me too….evil laugh 😉
