Perfect morning.

Oh wow! Such a beautiful, refreshing sight first thing on a soon to be hectic Saturday morning. This was turning out to be a perfect morning. Wait! where’s my camera? Can’t get to that right now, my phone, yes that should do.

Reaching into her pyjama pockets she pulls out an iPhone six taking extra effort to stay perfectly calm; wouldn’t want to startle the butterfly. She was so excited, been awhile she enjoyed such a sight. Camera focused, perfect view and …

“Mummy, I want juice.” called a high-pitched voice shattering the moment. Butterfly gone, hands shaking, camera focus offset, resultant image blurred.

There goes my hope of enjoying a few minutes by myself.

“Morning darling.”

Note to self: next time shut the garden door that way I can hear her coming.

It was still a perfect morning, not really how I imagined it.

  1. Lol! Oh, man. I may not have any little monsters, but I’m a proud auntie who understands this piece so well. You really captured the build up of trying to have a moment to enjoy yourself. Key word: “Trying” lol. Gotta love them ❤ 😀
