He looked out the window and everything he saw was a reflection of his life today…..a dry lonely life, home to abandoned dreams and potentials, fenced in by circumstances and his mind.

They had released him back into society a 70 year old man perplexed by the 21st century society. He was a shadow of the cocky, self-assured 20 year old who had been incarcerated for murder..

The journey was an attempt to re-connect with his roots in society, if Eddy didn’t take him in there was only one option left for him.

Life post freedom seemed less appealing.

  1. A thought-provoking story, Chioma. Fifty years is such a long time to be locked away, and it would probably seem like another world to him. Quite frightening, I think, especially to a 70-year-old man. Still, the penalty had to be paid … 🙂

      1. Hello Chioma. I don’t know whether you noticed, but i sent a pingback to your About page on Sunday. I nominated you for the Liebster Award. If you check out my Liebster post, you will see the rules. I’d love you to accept but there’s no obligation to do so, of course, So if you feel you haven’t time or just don’t think it’s for you, you can just decline. 🙂

      2. Will you be doing a post about it? You will need to see the rules on my Liebster post, if you do. It’s a good idea to do a post – people generally like to read about other bloggers. You don’t have to, though. Millie. 🙂

      3. Just answer them as simply as you like. You don’t have to rabbit on like me. (I have a habbit of rabbiting!) Anything you can’t answer, just leave it out. If you want to ask anything about the post, feel free to email me. 🙂

  2. Dear Chioma,

It would be hard after fifty years to integrate back into a society that’s light years ahead of what you remember. Thought provoking and well written. BTW Shawshank Redemption is one of my favorite movies. 😉
